YOU CAN NOW LIKE STORIES ON INSTAGRAM

Instagram has introduced Stories Likes, a new, simple and efficient way for users to interact with Stories content. Stories likes allows you to ‘like’ any Story in your feed and notify the creator without needing to start a DM conversation. As Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri illustrated on Twitter, there’s a new heart button at the bottom of your Stories view in the app that, when pressed, sends a like to the creator of that Story.

Likes aren’t visible to the public; only the creator can view them. In their Story insights, creators will be able to see their Story likes, with a small heart icon next to the users’ name in the view listing. And, as previously stated, Stories likes will not be sent as a DM, so don’t expect an avalanche of DMs when people utilize the feature to comment on your Stories.

That’s a good thing because having to write someone a DM to tell them you enjoyed their Story is a pain in the ass. This adds an easy, minimal approach to showing your interest without having to send a separate message every time. It might be a useful approach to boost Stories engagement, as well as another indicator for Instagram to use in sorting and highlighting the Stories in your feed that are most likely to be of interest.

It brings Stories closer to TikTok-style short video segments, which rank and engage users based on user interaction signals. This feature is currently available on Instagram Reels, and now viewers of Instagram Stories will be able to interact more quickly as well, which could prove to be a useful habit shift.

So, while it may appear to be a simple tweak on the surface, it might have a significant influence, and it’ll be exciting to see how Instagram uses the data it gathers as a result, and whether this helps it boost user engagement.

From this week, all users will be able to use the new Like for Stories button.

CREATORS ON SNAP CAN ADD MID-ROLL ADS INTO THEIR STORIES – HERE’S EVERYTHING ABOUT THE NEW UPDATE

Snapchat is introducing a new monetization option for Snap creators: mid-roll advertisements for Snap Star Stories, which will provide a direct cash stream for the app’s biggest stars. Snap creators will be able to turn on adverts within their Stories, with a portion of the cash produced going back to the creator.

Though the exact income split isn’t quite clear — according to Snap, the revenue portion from these ads will be determined by its proprietary payment methodology, which may involve a number of characteristics such as posting frequency and viewer engagement.

Snapchat’s payment structure is already in place for its TikTok-style Spotlight funding, with creator payouts distributed based on a variety of parameters. The overall amount of unique video views attributable to your Snap, the relative performance of your Snaps in Spotlight compared to other Snaps, and the geographic location of your Snaps and/or users viewing your Snaps are all factors to consider.

Because the view counts are exclusive to that Story, it appears that integrating adverts into Stories would be more directly attributable to each creator’s performance. Snap, on the other hand, appears to be pursuing a different approach to finance, which could benefit creators more.

However, Snap’s top creators will be able to make money from advertising embedded into their Stories in either case, providing another monetization avenue for the app while also providing advertisers with another method to reach more specialized, engaged audiences in the app with their campaigns.

Nevertheless, the major focus is on assisting top Snapchatters in earning more money for their efforts, which should encourage them to use the app more frequently. With the battle for attention heating up, every social app is now competing for the attention of creators in order to persuade them to post as much as possible, which will keep more users interested and returning to their platforms to check on the latest creator updates.

To sum it up, with the competition for attention intensifying, it’s critical for Snap, as well as all platforms, to take advantage of every opportunity in this regard in order to preserve their position as crucial connective apps.

Snap’s Star Stories advertisings are now being tested in the app with a group of US-based producers.

META JUST LAUNCHED A NEW AD CAMPAIGN FEATURING THE METAVERSE AND VR HEADSETS

While Facebook’s daily user count may have plateaued, its parent company, Meta, is already moving ahead to the next stage, focusing on the theoretical ‘metaverse’ and how we’ll all be engaging in totally digital worlds in the not-too-distant future.

That is the subject of Meta’s most recent ad campaign, which debuted this week. The storyline of an out-of-work dog mascot who rekindles old acquaintances in Meta’s version of the metaverse – which, at least in this scenario, will exist within VR – is being used to advertise Meta’s Quest 2 VR headsets.

As Meta is quick to point out, this isn’t the entire metaverse story. Indeed, Meta has stated repeatedly that the metaverse will include AR, VR, machine learning, AI, advanced wearable gadgets, and more, as per its vision.

According to Meta’s increasing public relations campaign, any emerging technology of any kind will directly relate to the metaverse. This is intriguing because, by changing its name to ‘Meta,’ and using that umbrella term to include all types of tangentially related innovation, Meta is gradually gaining a greater association with the phrase, which doesn’t really imply anything in a broader sense.

In reality, Meta’s vision of the metaverse, as depicted in different video clips and presentations, is just its virtual reality environment, which it hopes to grow into a social alternative via Horizon Worlds and other platforms.

Although it appears fantastic, it is still a long way from being a truly immersive, realistic environment. It also doesn’t have to be linked to AR tools or other purposes; it’s simply VR, which Meta has been working on for years under a different moniker.

But there’s a lot of room for growth there, as well as a lot of value in the next shift. It’s just fascinating to see how Meta is attempting to monopolize a wide range of broader tech discussions and advancements by grouping them all under the ‘metaverse’ umbrella.

REDDIT PLANS TO EXPAND ITS ’REDDIT TALKS’ FEATURE – HERE ARE THE POSSIBLE CHANGES

While the ability to tune in and engage with other people in a less forceful, more relaxed live format has lost some traction since the sudden rise of Clubhouse early last year, it still holds significant appeal and potential in various forms and apps.

While Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces are the most well-known platforms in this regard, Reddit has seen success with its own ‘Reddit Talk‘ option, which it first launched in April and has since been discreetly expanding to more of its highly engaged communities, providing yet another way to extend Reddit chats to another medium.

Over 1,000 subreddits now have access to the feature, according to Reddit, which has resulted in a 250 percent increase in daily active listeners of Reddit Talk conversations over the previous three months.

That’s important, and in light of the increased interest, Reddit is focusing more on Reddit Talk discussions as it seeks to extend its user engagement choices and the app’s general utility. To begin, Reddit is making Reddit Talk chats more visible, with a new, Twitter-like feed of live chats in action, within the subreddits you follow, along the app’s top bar.

This is a significant change, and Reddit users will undoubtedly have strong opinions about it. The app’s highly engaged communities are often resistant to change, particularly anything that lessens the app’s focus, and this upgrade, which will change user home screens, will undoubtedly face some resistance.

However, it may cause more individuals to tune in to relevant talks, which might be a significant step forward for the app.

Reddit is also introducing Talk recordings, which will allow users to listen in on talks afterward.

“Starting today, when a redditor visits a Reddit Talk post from a past live session, they’ll be able to listen to a recording of the conversation. The new feature includes a playback bar that enables redditors to skip to any timestamp, pause or unpause, and fast-forward or rewind 10 seconds at a time.”

Another important step is to increase the value of Reddit audio chats, which may provide additional motivation for users to broadcast in the app as a way to grow their profile and following.

It’s a natural development for Reddit conversation, and while it’s distinct from other social audio alternatives, those variations may be beneficial to Reddit’s special use case, improving app utility.
